Choosing the right real estate agent is a crucial step when selling your property. An excellent agent can help you navigate the selling process, price your property appropriately and skilfully negotiate with potential buyers to ensure you get the best selling price possible. But with so many real estate agents out there, how do you know which one to choose? Here are some tips to help you find the best real estate agent to sell your property...

Do your research.

Start by doing some solid research into your local real estate agents. Look online for agents who have recently sold properties in your area and check their reviews and ratings. You can also ask friends, family members and neighbours who've recently sold their properties for their own personal recommendations.

Interview multiple agents.

Once you have a list of potential agents, interview at least three of them. Ask them about their experience, their marketing strategies & their communication style. It's incredibly important to choose an agent who you feel comfortable working with, who you also trust to represent your best interests.

Check their credentials.

Make sure the agent you choose is in good standing, both with the broker they work with and in the community. You can check the agent's good standing in the community by word of mouth from those who've worked with them, their testimonials, track record, any awards they've received, which developers they're partnered with and of course, their overall experience in the field.

Look for local expertise.

Choose an agent who has experience selling homes in your area. They should be able to provide you with information about the local real estate market, including recent sales and trends, and ideally have in depth knowledge about the more specific area where your property is located too. They should also have a detailed understanding of the local amenities and schools, so they can best represent the experience of living in the community, with potential buyers.

Consider their marketing plan.

Ask the agent to provide you with a detailed marketing plan for your property. This should include information on how they plan to market your home online, in print and through other channels too. They should also be able to provide you with a timeline for their marketing efforts, so you can clearly define the deliverables involved, should you decide to work with them.

Ask for references.

Ask the agent for references from previous clients, then when you have this information, contact these clients and ask them about their experiences working with the agent. Were they satisfied with the agent's services? Did they feel that the agent represented their best interests? And of course, ask anything else that comes to mind at the time.

Evaluate their communication skills.

Choose an agent who communicates clearly and effectively with you. They should be responsive to your questions and concerns, and should keep you updated on the progress of your home sale. Furthermore, they should be very personable, get on well with others (in the sense of their people skills), and ideally have an excellent command of written communications in the language of key potential property buyers.

Consider their commission.

Real estate agents around the Red Sea typically charge a commission of 5% of the sale price of your resale property, and for this fee it's important to remember that the agent is working on your behalf to get you the best possible price for your property, as well as marketing your property and supporting you in numerous other ways too. However, the agent's commission, if it's very different from other prospective agents, could be a swaying factor when deciding on the right agent, for you.

In an overall sense, choosing the right real estate agent really can make all the difference when selling your home, so do your research, interview multiple agents, check their credentials, look for local expertise, consider their marketing plan, ask for references, evaluate their communication skills and consider their commission too, because with the right agent on your side, you'll have the best chance of selling your property quickly & for the best possible price!
